Hello Lauri great advice about TSA preparation for body checks. One thing I highly disapprove of is touching other people's bag or hand luggage. One incident that has been in the int'l news that an old lady asked a fellow pax to help with her bags. Unfortunately the person's fingerprints already embedded in her hand carry bag bec. he helped her & so happened that this old lady has an agenda of using this Samaritan's help to pinned him on something. Her proof…his fingerprints. So not good advice on that one. YOUR LUGGAGE…YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If someone needs help ask the crew for help NOT fellow pax. I hope this help to be cautious on dealing with people on the plane.
I will sleep with eye shades/covers in the hotel rooms and I sleep so much better.
Before leaving home take a small piece of tape and attach your license to the back of your phone. As soon as I go through TSA I attach the license back to my phone, put both in the front pocket of my carry on. When I get to a convenient area I put my license back in my wallet with the tape folded over to the back, ready for my return flight.
Hiding money in inconspicuous places/items is fine but please DO NOT put money into any item that is disposable or that could easily be thrown away by you or someone else LIKE A TISSUE BAG! 14:18 Hide in an item that someone else would not suspect to have money in it but not into something that would be put in the garbage.
A black, 2 inch wide headband works really well as an eye mask (if it's not too tight). Saves having to go around to tape up the clock, the TV, & the fire alarm, and to coat-hanger the curtains.
The sticky notes came in handy when there was a fan in the room, but it had a very bright blue light that illuminated the whole room. It took a stack of sticky notes to cover the glow. 😂
So many great ideas. If you have a vacuum sealer, you can pack your moisturizer.
Traveling around India for weeks and weeks and being in a different room every night, I found myself anxious and worried and unable to settle in strange places. So I have some slightly unusual tips: Buy a light cotton blanket or two from the Gandhi-ji store and put one over the bed every night and one over the table in your hotel room. The familiar decor gives a sense of security and being in a familiar place. Always get to your destination 2 hours before sundown so you can be sure you want to stay there and still have time to go elsewhere. Always walk the hallway and around the property so you know where the exits are and how to get out in emergency. If you are on the ground floor try to have an inner garden/atrium room that does not open onto the street, or have a second floor room. If you are on the ground floor, be sure to check the water drainage in the bathroom. If its just a hole in the wall at floor level, be sure you have a big very heavy rock to put in front of a wooden plug to keep the cobras out. Always a bummer in the dark! Cobras are very big and very strong to push so make sure you talk to the desk and get be sure that hole is blocked! Do not go out after dark! Make sure you are settled in your room with the door locked before dark and check for hidden cameras because they are there!
Take two pushlights. One for the bathroom and one for the bedside. or two nightlights. Keeping a push light to see in a dark suitcase is wonderful!
getting your list is ljke breaking into fort knox
Love all your videos, but this travel hacks video is the best.
If you go to some of the good travel bag shop in Europe or UK (which is in Europe ) and you can buy a small bag (over the head ) on the airoplane which has a Nice computer or vired mobile phone charger build on the side or top so you just have it next to you when you waiting and can charge your phone or laptop
14:18 Tell me you're from 🇨🇱 without telling me (branding for the tissues)❤ ❤😅 Here EVERYTHING'S better!!
I bring a flexible light for bikes. I use it at home and for travel for a small light (saves the phone battery ) and it's small enough to wrap around my finger so easy to put in the backpack or bag. Always good to have for night or power outage.
Why throw away the socks? Roll them up and tuck them in a corner of your suitcase or whatever. If you have to throw them away, get a pair of really cheap footie socks, even like what you can get from a shoe store. By the way, it’s “rifle” through your belongings, not riffle or truffle (I couldn’t quite make out what you said).
Genius money hiding hacks
Really like the bright cap for important items. We always sit our cards down and take a minute to find it. Love how you got straight into the video.
Why you can’t fly with peanut butter
"truffle" got me 🤣🤣
Here’s a funny about those heavy door stops you mentioned—I am a high school teacher in WV—my district gave all of us those door stops to use in case of an intruder. They are so hard to use that I told my principal that I will just use mine to whack the intruder in the head… I think you could possibly knock someone out with one!😂
The reason I like you Laurie, is that a lot of these tried and true travel hacks are ones that I’ve discovered from years of foreign travel adventures (and advice from my Mom’s mountain travel hiking from all over the world). When it’s something that I learned that’s tried and true from years of wise experience, it gives me trust in ALL your advice. Experienced travelers are the ones to learn from, ladies. Onward and UPWARD! 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇺🇸
If you hike and get wet feet in cool weather. Use two plastic bags for loaf of bread or 5 liter ones as a membrane between your shoes and the dry socks you store in a pocket in your jacket. This will turn your wet shoes into Wellington's in an instant. Take up small space and prevent you from getting a cold.
