What if they are hiv medications?
I take 7 meds a day – all in tablet form and in blister packs – nothing in bottles with a label. I may flatten the boxes the blister packs come in and photograph them.
Thanks for the heads up. Whether I eventually go through any checks for my medications or not, it's better to be safe than sorry at this point. A small hassle.
Medicine from a pharmacy has to be in its own bottle and in your name THATS what I was told
I use weekly sorter, but put each Rx in a space. Use fine tip sharpie to write name on back of that 'day'. Atorvastatin, aspirin, etc. Index card with list of full drug name, dosage, and reason. Got injured whike travelling, and that index card helped nurse fill in my chart with confidence.
I asked this exact question through the ask TSA app. They responded “Medications are allowed in carry-on bags. For domestic travel within the U.S., we don't require original prescription bottles; a pill box or organizer is fine.”
Do you know if this Rx med rule is enforced? Is it a new rule since they changed the process of getting ADHD meds the last couple years? Maybe if we comply, we could possibly get thru security faster?
I take my prescription box in my carry-on (has separate boxes for Sun-Sat, and AM, noon, EVE = 21 spaces.) I put in my RX’s (2 controlled), OTC’s, and supplements.
Started using them in 2008.
Since then, i’ve gone thru security at least 42 times (20 domestic trips, one international). No problems. No one has ever said anything to me about it—So I never even knew this was a rule! Maybe if I do it, I can get thru security faster!
Photos of Rx bottles is a great idea for a host of reasons.
I’m trying to take my Percocets to Mexico you think I’ll be OK. I only got 30. lol
i dont have the original its mostly thyroid medicine and anxiety medicine

I'm the supplement king (which I know I shouldn't be!) plus add over the counter stuff, so I carry a few bottles and TSA has never said anything! Funny enough the only thing they did drug test, was the salt from a salt shaker I carry and ONLY in San Antonio! 😅😅
They would have better stop illegal drug trafficking.
Trump sticking his nose in our personal health again. Our bodies our selves.
My elderly husband takes over 10 different prescription meds and several supplements. Nothing like making travel inconvenient for more people traveling. This is just more ridiculousness.
I have diabetes insulin and medicine, i don’t know if they’ll check my bag reguarding the injections, ill have to find out myself
I travel monthly and take 21 different pills a day. I mix them all in one bottle. They don't care.
In Germany they don’t print labels which is absurd to me. In the Netherlands every medication get a label with name, date of birth, doctor, how many to take etc.
In Germany the recipe is on my insurance card until I go to the pharmacy. Then it’s deleted from the card.
I usually stay in Europe and never had a problem.
I just put the bottles in a small bag.
They will absolutely fuck with you. If it is a prescription seriously keep a label on it.
I'm so grateful for your channel. The tips really are helpful and practical.
I didn't have a problem flying domestically with my pill organizer and even flying into Athens I didn't have an issue so many pills look alike but unless you are a licensed pharmacist you would not be able to tell one pill from another. And you can have the same exact Pill by different manufacturers and their different colors and shapes it's very difficult to tell on sight what is what
Thank You so much! I needed that FYI! 🙌🏽💊💊🫶🏽
The prescription drugs are not illegal in different states, you may be in trouble if it’s a controlled drug like Adderall or Valium and you don’t have a prescription for that drug
You have a one day supply? I have a two week med organizer and flew domestic (USA) and international, Mexico, France and Spain. They never opened my carry on. 🧳 I also carried the bottles with me 'cause you never know…🤔
You can also get a duplicate label from the pharmacy for your RX and then place that label on package of your choice. (A small ziplock works well) Just ask the technician for duplicate labels for traveling.
If they make this an issue to identify every pill TSA will take hours.
